QSR/QSP: Send (Clarification) Request to Author This feature extends workflow capabilities between QS Player and QS Recorder. Here’s a situation that occurs frequently: While transcribing an audio file, there’s a passage that is hard to hear, or hard to understand, or just needs further explanation. Now the transcriptionist can mark the file at that point (using Marker->Add Marker or the appropriate hotkey), and then double-click on the marker and type a question or comments regarding clarification. Then by selecting File->Send Request to Author, you have the option to send either an email request to the author, or a network-generated notification to the author’s desktop through QS Recorder. The author can then open the dictation file and review the question, and then return (and send) the updated dictation file. Add Marker This will add a Marker within the audio file. The default Hot-Key for this function is CTRL 6 Remove Marker Removes a Marker from the audio file Go To Previous Marker This will jump backward within your audio file to a Previous Marker. The default Hot-Key for this function is CTRL 5 Go To Next Marker This will jump forward to the Next Marker within the audio file. The default Hot-Key for this function is CTRL 7 Copy Marker Contents This copies the contents of the Marker file to the Windows clipboard. View Marker Contents This allows you to view the contents of a Marker file. If you have text within the Marker file, you can edit this text if you wish and then select the update button. Enable Marker Notification If this is Enabled (Ticked), the Quikscribe Player will notify you when it finds a Marker created by the Quikscribe Recorder. Steps To Define The QSPROFILES Environment Variable For Windows
For a business environment where users share a single computer, it’s necessary to define an environment variable in Windows so that Quikscribe Recorder or Player will behave properly using multiple Quikscribe user profiles with multiple Windows user profiles. Start Windows Control Panel Select System If Windows 7, select Advanced System Settings. If Windows XP, skip to step 4. Select the Advanced tab, then select Environment Variables. Under the “System variables” section, select New: Enter “QSPROFILE” for Variable name Enter the network path name for Variable value where the profiles will be stored. Select OK to save the entry, then restart the computer. This setting will work for stations that have QSRecorder or QSPlayer installed, but you need to use the following convention for storing the profile files and naming the folders for the profiles.
