Undo or Redo Dictation
The Undo Dictation and Redo Dictation functions are designed to save time. The undo and redo functions are available as icons on the main Quikscribe interface, from the Edit menu, or may be assigned to buttons on your hand control.
For each time you record, and then stop recording, Quikscribe considers this passage as an “audio edit”. You may undo each audio edit, as Quikscribe recognizes the section from the last “stop recording” to the previous “start recording”. Redo provides the opposite function and recalls previously recorded sections. So if you made a mistake and selected UNDO to wipe out dictation, but then changed your mind, you could instantly recall the ‘wiped out’ passage by selecting REDO. Below is an image of the UNDO and REDO icons.
To practice undo and redo, do the following:
- Create a New Audio File.
- RECORD “One Two Three”.
- Click or slide to STOP.
- RECORD “Four Five” then STOP.
- Click or slide to STOP.
- Click the UNDO icon.
- REWIND to the beginning of the audio file.
- PLAY the audio file.
- You should hear “One Two Three”.
- Click the REDO icon.
- REWIND to the beginning of the audio file.
- PLAY the audio file.
- You should hear “One Two Three Four Five”.
You may assign the Undo and Redo functions to buttons on the Hand Control, allowing you to quickly record and edit in real time. Use the Hand Control Training to program the Undo or Redo functions to the desired button on your hand control microphone. Go to Help, then Hand Control Training to set functions for the hand control buttons.
UNDO and REDO are also available in the EDIT menu.
