Complete or Finish a File
Click the Completes Current File icon when you finish transcribing a file. The icon is not highlighted until the end of the file is reached. The Completes Current File routine saves all Markers and Attachments within the audio file and then closes the file. The file is moved into the completed folder as part of the routine. You may see the path and name of the completed folder by clicking the Quikscribe Settings icon (the books). The file will remain in the completed folder until the deleted by Quikscribe. The default duration for deletion of completed files is 14 days. The default duration may be altered to your preference. Click the Quikscribe Settings icon and select the Preferences tab to change the default duration. Files are deleted from the completed folder after the number of days specified in the item Automatically delete files older than ‘x’ days. …
Close and Reopen a Dictation
If you are in the middle of a dictation and need to attend to another matter, you may close the dictation and continue transcribing later. To close and reopen a dictation, do the following. 1. Click the Closes Current Audio File icon (the closed yellow folder) to close the dictation. 2. When you want to continue the dictation, click the Open a New Audio File icon (the open yellow folder). 3. The Open Audio panel will now display. Select the dictation from the list in the Select an audio file box. When you select the dictation, you will hear an audio preview of it. Click the Open button in the lower right or double-click the file name. 4. Your dictation is now available for continuation of transcription. Note the position of the indicator on the slider. The indicator will be at the point at which you closed the file, so you can quickly resume transcription. …
